Escape rooms bring team building as part of the party. New for this year is Brighton’s Phileas Fogg’s World of Adventures ( a 1900’s themed game attraction based on ‘Around the World in 80 Days.’ The incredible sets, created by a team from Pinewood Studios, map out 14 lands and challenges, and it can be booked exclusively or for smaller parties. The original team test, The Crystal Maze Live Experience (, has many fans who want to tackle the different zones to win crystals, before entering the Crystal Dome. There are venues in London and Manchester, and both can be booked for private hire.

The nation loves the glamour of entertainment shows such as Britain’s Got Talent and Strictly Come Dancing. Why not encourage your team to showcase their own version? Colleagues can work together on routines including comedy, impressions, singing and dancing, anything goes. Nominate those less inclined to perform to be judges, and it can be as silly or as competitive as you like – just be prepared for things to get serious if there is a glitterball at stake! Crazy golf has had a very cool re-brand thanks to the creation of some rather amazing indoor courses in the UK. Anyone can play crazy golf and it offers a fun way to get colleagues to socialise. London’s Puttshack ( uses technology to track your ball and keep scores, and features holes based on as roulette wheels and pin ball machines. Swingers ( also in London, is styled on a 1920’s English countryside golf-club. Add cocktail bars, a groovy Club House and street food, and it’s an easy choice which ticks all the trendy boxes.

Movie Magic

If you are going for a traditional party, consider choosing a popular theme to help pull the plan together and give the evening structure. There are loads of ideas out there, but as December heralds the start of film award season, why not host your own red-carpet homage to the silver screen? The Grade II listed Dome Cinema, Worthing ( is the ideal backdrop, and can be hired for any event. There are several spaces arranged over three floors, with a beautiful mezzanine room with sea views. Invite guests to dress up as their favourite screen star or character, and you could even introduce some awards of your own, or perhaps a film trivia quiz.
